What it is

Wellness Shots are intramuscular (IM) nutrient injections. They are quick 10-minute add-on visits for targeted support. Two are currently on the menu at MODE. The first is L-Glutathione, a tripeptide antioxidant that supports detoxification, immune function, and cellular protection. The second is the Metabolism Boost injection, which combines MIC (methionine, inositol, choline) with B12 and B complex vitamins.

IM injection delivers nutrients directly to the bloodstream, bypassing gastrointestinal absorption limits. This makes IM useful for patients who don’t absorb well from oral supplementation or want a higher effective dose.

What patients often ask.

What does glutathione do?+
Glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant, present in every cell. It neutralizes oxidative stress, supports liver detoxification, recycles other antioxidants like vitamin C and E, and maintains immune function. Natural levels decline with age, chronic stress, and illness.
What is the Metabolism Boost injection?+
The Metabolism Boost injection combines MIC (methionine, inositol, choline) with B12 and B complex vitamins. The MIC compounds support fat metabolism and liver function, while the B vitamins support energy. It works best as one part of a broader wellness or weight-management plan, not as a standalone fix.
Do wellness shots actually work?+
IM nutrient injections have clinical support for specific indications (B12 deficiency, glutathione depletion). For generally-healthy patients looking for a wellness boost, the evidence is weaker but many patients report subjective benefit such as improved energy, skin, and cognition. Think of it as adjunctive care, not a cure for anything specific.
How often?+
Weekly is typical for patients actively supplementing. Monthly works as maintenance. Most patients titrate to their own experience. Some feel the effect lasts 2 to 3 weeks, some less.
Is it painful?+
A brief IM injection, similar to a flu shot. Slight soreness at the injection site for a day.

L-Glutathione is administered by Marisa Dulin, MSN, FNP-C. The Metabolism Boost injection can be administered by Marisa Dulin, MSN, FNP-C, Torey Varner, RN, or Kirstyn Prater, DNP, AGACNP-BC.
